M42 The Great Nebula in Orion
M42 is really the Zen deep-sky target. It’s big and bright enough that literally anyone can image it — it’s a naked-eye object! — but it contains difficulties and subtleties to challenge even the advanced astrophotographer. I’ve shot it quite a few times now, and this is the image I like best. So far.
